Express Job for DTZ

wantspacegotspace.co.uk - Express Job for DTZDTZ have been appointed by an overseas investor to market the Express Building, Manchester.

Built on Great Ancoats Street as one of three buildings to house the offices of the Daily Express (the others being on Fleet St, London and in Glasgow) the Express Building was completed in 1939. The quality of its architecture resulted in a Grade II* listing only 35 years later, the youngest building in Greater Manchester to achieve this distinction.

Newspapers were printed on the lower floors until the late 1980’s. The building was fully refurbished as air conditioned offices and until recently primarily occupied by the insurance company ‘Friends Provident’.

The accommodation now available on the ground floor and 6 upper floors totals 75, 599 sq ft (7,023 sq m). The basement contains secure car parking for 36 cars and in addition a multi-storey car park, constructed specifically to serve the building, provides a further 141 spaces.

DTZ has been appointed as sole agents on behalf of the Landlord, Washington DC based A & A Investments, which has set an asking rental from £9.75 per sq ft. The freehold will also be available if required.

Simon Roddam, Senior Surveyor at DTZ commented: “The Express Building is one of Manchester’s most significant office buildings. The quality of the refurbishment and its high profile to the Inner Ring Road should appeal to a number of occupiers who are finding the supply of quality accommodation in Manchester city centre limited due to the lack of new development.”
