Former First Aid Office to be converted back to family home

wantspacegotspace.co.uk - Former First Aid Office to be converted back to family homeStrachan House, a traditional Georgian townhouse at the heart of Edinburgh’s West End, is to be brought back to its residential beginnings following a recent sale.

Previous owner, St Andrew’s First Aid, has agreed a deal to sell the 2,790 sq ft mid-terraced townhouse at 16 Torphichen Street to a private individual for a total of £450,000. St Andrew’s First Aid has relocated to premises in Leith (Dock Place).

Covering four floors, Strachan House is a grade B listed property, constructed in the mid-19th century by James Haldane. The traditional sandstone building was intended for residential use, with a pitched and slated roof, and assumed flat and valley sections. Internally, the building benefits from period features throughout, bathroom and kitchen facilities on three floors, and electric heating throughout.

Close to local amenities including excellent transport links and leisure facilities, Strachan House is ideally located for residents intending to work within Edinburgh’s city centre or financial district, as well as for those intending to commute to other locations outside of the city centre.

Jones Lang LaSalle acted on behalf of St Andrew’s First Aid.

Craig Watson, Associate Director at Jones Lang LaSalle commented: “There is a growing demand for well-located and heritable opportunities in central Edinburgh, as evidenced by an increase in the number of sales. Strachan House is unrefurbished, so is suited for conversion to residential property, and is ideally located close to Haymarket with excellent transport connections”.
