wantspacegotspace.co.uk - Bath Office space, Withy King, Jones Lang LaSalle - Law firm Withy King, moves to MidlandBath’s longest-established law firm is moving offices in one of the biggest commercial deals for the city this year.

Withy King, has unveiled plans to move from one of its current office locations in the city to Midland Bridge House, but has declined to reveal how much the deal is worth.

The law firm is planning to move from its current base at Green Park to the prominent, four-storey office building on Midland Bridge Road in spring next year.

The firm’s commercial practice together with its high profile clinical negligence and personal injury departments will be among those moving to the new premises, following an extensive refurbishment programme.

Withy King’s private client practice, which includes wills, tax planning, estate management, residential property and family services, will remain at the firm’s offices at Northumberland Buildings, Queen Square.

Graham Street, managing partner, said the deal was proof of the company’s commitment to Bath.

He said: “Midland Bridge House will provide us with stylish, modern office space in the heart of Bath’s commercial quarter.

“Taking on this new lease is part of our long-term commitment to our clients and our staff – as well as to Bath which we see as an ideal place from which to continue to grow our business.”

The move will involve a full refurbishment of Midland Bridge House, being managed by consultants Jones Lang LaSalle on behalf of the landlord, and will include new windows, a new roof with increased insulation, energy-efficient lighting and increased facilities for cyclists, including showers and changing rooms.

John Mulholland, director in the Bath office at Jones Lang LaSalle, said: “This new deal with Withy King is a welcome boost for Bath’s office market, and represents one of the two biggest deals of the year in the city. The refurbishment will mean Midland Bridge House is amongst the highest standards in Bath in terms of modern, spacious accommodation and sustainability.

“Deals like this are seeing the supply of quality office space in Bath gradually reduce and moves us closer to equilibrium in terms of supply and demand.”

The announcement of the move comes as Withy King achieved five first-tier rankings in the latest edition of Legal 500 – an authoritative reference guide to the UK’s best lawyers and firms.

Withy King’s commercial property, clinical negligence, personal injury, employment and racing and bloodstock teams have all achieved top rankings.

Mr Street said: “It’s gratifying to see Withy King climbing the legal rankings and being recognised for the quality of its work.”
