Leading Gwent vehicle hire firm set to shift up a gear after buying prime expansion site

wantspacegotspace.co.uk - Leading Gwent vehicle hire firm set to shift up a gear after buying prime expansion siteGwent vehicle hire business Cwmbran Van Hire is driving ahead with its plans to expand after buying a one-and-a-half acre site on a Cwmbran industrial estate.

The business, established for almost forty years, is shifting from Ty Coch, in the town, to a prime location at the entrance to Springvale Industrial Estate to help aid its growth plans.

The business has acquired the site from receivers for considerably less than the £525,000 asking price and now intends spending some £200,000 on development of the site.

The property the business has bought consists of a vacant development site of 1.45 acres (0.59 hectares) which includes an existing industrial building of 4,582 sq ft (426 sq m) which is being refurbished.

Owner John Aspland, of Cwmbran Van Hire, said: “This site is ideally located to enable us to expand our vehicle hire business. We outgrew our existing site at Ty Coch and needed to find a new site, within Cwmbran, that would provide us with facilities for vehicle hire as well as repairs and also have sufficient customer parking.

“The business now runs a large and expanding fleet of vans and cars. We are actively looking to grow the business still further.”

Mr Aspland, who started the business almost forty years ago in Cwmbran, said they had plans to create a MOT test centre, body shop, workshop offices and a vehicle sales centre on the site. It was hoped to have the new Springvale site fully operational within six months.

New Jobs will be created with the expansion. Cwmbran Van Hire is now looking for further sites, in the Newport and Abergavenny areas, in which to expand the business.

Haydn Thomas, of Hutchings and Thomas Chartered Surveyors, acted for Cwmbran Van Hire in the sale. He said: “This site perfectly fitted the bill for Cwmbran Van Hire as it is relatively close to their original location in Ty Coch and their existing customer base.

“The Springvale Industrial Estate site provides the expanding business ample space for growth and is very well connected in terms of access for customers both to and from the site.”

Robert Chapman, of Robert Chapman and Co., who had been retained by LPA receivers JA Pitt and DJW Moore in the sale of the property which had been initially quoted for sale for offers in excess of £525,000.
