Lettings Confirm Edinburgh's Technopole Park’s potential as “a significant destination for the UK’s science and technology sector”

wantspacegotspace.co.uk - Lettings Confirm Edinburgh Technopole Park’s potential as “a significant destination for the UK’s science and technology sector”Edinburgh's Technopole science and business park continues to prove attractive to new occupiers having recently completed two new high-profile tenant deals. Specialist marketing company Starbit and construction consultancy Asset Venture is now based at the park located on the Bush Estate, to the south of Edinburgh, employing some 15 people between them.

Both deals follow the recent announcement that LaSalle Investment Management, acting on behalf of a pension fund client, is now managing the park as part of a joint venture with the University of Edinburgh.

Starbit, an innovative creative company dedicated to designing, printing and publishing high-quality materials for clients across the UK, will operate from the Caretakers Cottage, an annex of Bush House, the 18th century Adam-designed mansion which lies at the heart of the park.
Asset Venture, a multi-disciplinary, professional construction consultancy and building contracting company, will move into Bush House. The company uses in-house capabilities to plan and deliver projects across Scotland to clients in all sectors, including commercial, residential and industrial, with core skills in project management and quantity surveying.

Welcoming the new deals, Andrew Bull, European Director at LaSalle Investment Management said: “Edinburgh Technopole continues to prove that it has the potential to be a significant destination for the UK’s science and technology sector, as well as servicing the more general needs of growing businesses.

“We are pleased that Bush House is the right fit for our new companies, meeting their space, service and location needs, and we welcome them to the Edinburgh Technopole community.”

He added: “We are committed to improving the park by developing better central services, taking forward advancements in sustainability, attracting more new tenants and generating steady growth in tough economic times.”

Edinburgh Technopole was first set up in 2000 as a joint venture between The University of Edinburgh and property company Grosvenor.  Since then it has created an international reputation in providing state-of-the-art facilities set in 126-acres of rolling parkland at the foot of the Pentland Hills, yet less than seven miles from the centre of Edinburgh.

In June 2012, LaSalle Investment Management announced the acquisition of Grosvenor’s stake in Technopole, which includes the freehold of buildings The Technopole Centre, Charles Darwin House and The Fleming Building. LaSalle now owns the largest portfolio of science parks in the UK – stretching from Havant on the south coast to Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Technopole now brings together a business community made up of 22 companies and 350 employees mixing innovative start-ups with established global names. Current tenants include IndigoVision, Xilinx, Biobest and Kendle (now part of INC Research).

Letting agents DTZ and Eric Young & Co acted on behalf of LaSalle Investment Management for both deals.
