MCS wins Opus Aspect contracts

wantspacegotspace.co.uk - Industrial space ErdingtonA Midlands construction company is celebrating winning two new contracts, worth a total of more than £3 million, at a major development site in Birmingham.

MCS Group has been appointed by developers Opus Land to deliver the projects at the Opus Aspect site in Erdington on behalf of the West Midlands Ambulance Service and the Paul Rigby Volvo dealership.
Opus Aspect is a 10-acre site in Erdington, just two minutes from M6, junction 5 and 10 minutes from M42, junction 8. It benefits from outline consent for a range of employment uses including trade counters and car showrooms.

A new Selco Trade Centre unit of 37,700 sq ft is now open and prelets have recently been agreed with Volvo for the new 13,240 sq ft car showroom which is due to complete early next year, and West Midlands Ambulance Service for the new design and build 17,700 sq ft hub.

Opus Land has been very active in the development and investment fields throughout the UK from its West Midlands base. Opus Land companies have an investment/development portfolio in excess of 1,500,000 sq ft.

MCS Group managing director Keir Edmonds said: “These two new contracts will be the first projects we have worked on alongside Opus Land. We expect to start work on the West Midlands Ambulance Service’s new hub in late November. It’s a £1.6 million project which will take 28 weeks to complete, and includes ambulance storage and service areas, changing rooms and a canteen.”
The Volvo dealership project is also valued at £1.6 million and work is scheduled to start this month (December), to be completed mid 2013.

Opus Land construction director Melanie Booth said: “We are delighted to be on site with two more build projects this year bringing our build programme up to over 300,000 sq ft for 2012.  MCS offer a commercial approach to delivery which is essential in the current climate.”
