National Mobile Windscreens Sees Expansion Through

A firm which has its headquarters in Bristol is planning to treble the size of its distribution centre to cope with the increased demand for its services.

National Mobile Windscreens, which has its head office in the St Philip's ares of the city, has seen huge growth over the last year.

And in order to cope with the extra demand the firm is planning a major investment and extension of its business.

Construction has already got under way on the £1 million project to add another 14,000 sq ft to the existing 8,000 sq ft warehouse and work is expected to take at least seven months to complete.

Meanwhile, the company has put plans into place to make sure the construction work does not disrupt the company and its trading over the next six months.

The majority of the company's extensive stock, which supplies its branch network across the South West, has been moved to a temporary storage premises nearby to ensure continuity of supply.

National Mobile Windscreens is now the country's largest independent supplier of automotive replacement glass and the largest member of National Windscreens, which has 114 branches nationwide and a fleet of 750 mobile units to provide a rapid response to emergency calls from business and individuals.

The recent increase in business has also resulted in National Mobile Windscreens opening larger new premises at Reading and Crawley to cope with the expected growth over the next two years and beyond.

George Douglas, chairman of the company, said he was thrilled with the growth of the firm.

Mr Douglas founded the firm in 1971 while working from an Austin Minivan in and around Bristol.

He added: "The phenomenal increase in our volume of business means that additional warehouse space is now urgently required. The need for this additional space is testament to the hard work, dedication and contribution by all the staff to the continued growth of our company.

"But we are ensuring that the scale of the work does not affect the quality of the service that we provide to our customers and when completed will further enhance the speed and efficiency of our operations.
