Race to share site with iconic British brand

wantspacegotspace.co.uk - Race to share site with iconic British brandBritish motorcycle brand Norton has moved from its location at Donington Park Race Circuit to the prestigious surroundings of Donington Hall.

Earlier this year, Norton Motorcycles confirmed its renaissance by buying the Donington Hall estate in Castle Donington from British Airways and moving its production facilities and design offices into Hastings House.

Hastings House is a modern, 45,000 sq ft office building situated behind the 18th century hall and now other businesses have the chance to share these excellent facilities alongside Norton.

Commercial property consultant Innes England has been appointed to let 27,000 sq ft within Hastings House which once housed the headquarters of airline Bmi Baby’s call centre.

Innes England director Nick Hosking said it provided a unique setting for aspiring businesses.

“Hastings House offers modern, well equipped office accommodation set within the magnificent grounds of an impressive historic building,” Nick said.

“The site has excellent communication links with East Midlands Airport and the M1and M42, yet is surrounded by attractive parkland and benefits from unrivalled on-site parking.

Local businessman and entrepreneur Stuart Garner bought the infamous Norton brand from a US owner back in 2008 and in doing so secured the trademarks and future development work. Stuart moved the production facility into a 8,000 sq ft building at the nearby Donington Park Race Circuit.

In the intervening five years Norton has grown considerably and now employs 40 staff manufacturing its Commando 961 Sport, Commando 961SF1 and Commando 961 Café Racer models. The firm also has plans to double its workforce over the next 18 months.

That success saw the company rapidly outgrow its facilities which prompted the purchase of the Donington Hall estate and the move into the Hastings House complex.

CEO and brand owner of Norton Stuart Garner said: “It is wonderful to be at our new British base which provides a perfect mix of old and new with the heritage of the hall and the modern space of the office building.

“We already have exciting plans for the estate and Hastings House gives us the office space we needed for our growing team. I look forward to welcoming other businesses to share these interesting and unique surroundings.”
