Rare independent manufacturer expands

wantspacegotspace.co.uk - Rare independent manufacturer expandsEnvitech, an independent manufacturer of analytical instrumentation for the water industry, has purchased a 6,000 sq ft industrial unit at Capital Business Park in Cardiff to providespace for expansion, new production and R&D departments, and more staff. The move represents a substantial investment in the business and in the future of its employees, and comes after a period of growth which has accelerated during the last two years. Envitech was represented by Rawlins & Madley and Cooke & Arkwright acted for the private vendors in the deal.

Envitech is a rare example of an independent firm in an industry where manufacturers of analytical instrumentation have increasingly been swallowed up by a small number of global corporations. It was originally founded in Wales almost 25 years ago by two scientists to provide analytical instrumentation for the water industry. It began by acting as UK agents for a number of manufacturers, steadily developing specialised skills and acquiring a substantial wealth of knowledge and experience in innovative instrumentation and how to make it work in the world of waste water.

As a result, Envitech now manufactures the PBS ammonia monitor in Cardiff, whereas it was previously manufactured in Germany. In collaboration with the University of South Wales, Envitech is also developing a new PBS ammonia monitor which will provide the same accurate measurements but will be easier to use and have lower operating costs.

The project will take about a year to reach completion.

Jim Pickering, Managing Director of Envitech said, “Unit S7 is ideal for our purposes as it has a great mix of workshop space for production, clean rooms for R&D, great office space and a superb room for training clients. This acquisition at Capital Business Park is a statement of confidence that we have in the company and all it stands for, and for the market prospects in the long term future.”

Mark Siddons of Cooke & Arkwright said, “We have seen an increase in demand from companies to purchase units over the last six months. This unit was a good fit for Envitech and I am pleased we were able to secure the sale for our clients.”

Paul Madley of Rawlins & Madley said, “The acquisition of Unit S7 followed an extensive search for suitable premises to meet my client’s requirements and I am pleased that Envitech have now purchased first class facilities. My client’s expansion continues with a wish to secure additional accommodation in the area.”
