SCA lands at Manchester Airport’s Voyager office building

wantspacegotspace.co.uk - SCA lands at Manchester Airport’s Voyager office buildingGlobal hygiene and forest products company SCA is to relocate its Northern UK office to Manchester Airport – taking 9,890 sq ft at MAG Property’s Grade-A office building, Voyager.

SCA develops and produces sustainable personal care, tissue and forest products, with sales in around 100 countries worldwide, under global brands including TENA and Tork and UK brands Bodyform, Velvet, Cushelle and Plenty. To facilitate recent expansion in the North, SCA will move its regional base to Voyager, which is next to Manchester Airport’s bus and railway station – and a new Metrolink tram stop, currently under construction.

Sally Barker, SCA’s Vice President Consumer Good Sales and Marketing, said: “SCA has had a base in the North West for a number of years and recent expansion in our northern operation has meant we had to seek larger office premises. A major consideration was to ensure it was easily accessible for current and potential employees both in the North West and further afield – being based at Manchester Airport, with its excellent transport facilities ensures that SCA remains ‘on the map’ as an employer of choice in the region.”

The office is also situated within walking distance of the airport’s passenger terminals enabling direct access to the 30 flights per week that operate between Manchester and Stockholm in Sweden, where SCA’s global HQ is located.

Jenny Smith, Head of Estates, MAG Property, said: “SCA is a leading global company and its decision to locate its Northern UK base at Voyager underlines the attractiveness of Manchester Airport as an office location for businesses that need excellent local public transport access for staff, as well as global links.”

The Manchester office of property consultants Dunlop Heywood advised SCA on the leasehold acquisition.

Steve Brittle, Associate Director at Dunlop Heywood, said: “We carried out an extensive relocation strategy for SCA to find the right location for their new Northern office.  Voyager ticked all the boxes in terms of quality of accommodation, location and connectivity, especially with the future ambitions of Airport City.”

MAG Property – formerly MAG Developments – is the property, development and facilities management arm of UK airport group MAG, owner of Manchester, London Stansted, East Midlands and Bournemouth airports.

CBRE and WHR Property Consultants acted for MAG Property and are the retained office agents for Voyager.

Existing occupiers at the 71,000 sq ft building include: National Grid, Swissport and the European contact centre of Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways.

SCA will relocate its from its current facility in Salford Quays on completion of the office fit out, which is being project managed by Dunlop Heywood’s Project & Building Division.
