Southside continues to perform in stalled market with string of new lettings

wantspacegotspace.co.uk - Southside continues to perform in stalled market with string of new lettingsMetro Shopping Fund, the Land Securities and Delancey retail joint venture, is pleased to announce that two of the country’s leading outdoor clothing and equipment specialists,

Trespass and Cotswold Outdoor, are coming to Southside Shopping Centre, Wandsworth.

The deals will see the retailers take over 11,000 sq ft of space and come as part of a wider £50 million investment drive to create new retail frontage along Garratt Lane.

Cotswold Outdoor has agreed to a ten-year lease at the dominant South West London scheme for £135,000 per annum and will trade across two floors in a newly configured

external facing 9,000 sq ft unit, by the South Mall entrance of the scheme. The new Trespass store will sit alongside top brands including Office, Gap, H&M Kids and other recent

addition, Jones Bootmaker, which is due to open in March.

The comprehensive and targeted investment programme also includes the creation of a 81,880 sq ft Debenhams store, the first department store for Wandsworth, and discussions

are taking place with leisure operators for a 20,000 sq ft unit on the second floor. An additional 100,000 sq ft of retail frontage on Garratt Lane will be created alongside 33,000 sq ft

of new restaurant space. This first phase of development is almost complete and operators Rossopomodoro and Wagamama will open in April.

Commenting on behalf of Metro Shopping Fund, Helen McVie, Retail Asset Manager at Delancey said: “Since we purchased the scheme in 2005 we have been strongly committed

to a proactive asset management and investment programme which directly appeals to Wandworth’s thriving ABC1 catchment. The recent lettings to Cotswold Outdoor and

Trespass, alongside the opening of Rossopomodoro and Wagamama, are the next steps to developing this further in-line with our strategy.”

Lunson Mitchenall and CWM represent Southside Shopping Centre, Montagu Evans acted for Trespass and Cotswold Outdoor were unrepresented.
