The Galleries Bristol, makes an entrance as more improvements are announced by InfraRed Capital Partners

wantspacegotspace.co.uk - The Galleries Bristol, makes an entrance as more improvements are announced by InfraRed Capital PartnersFurther improvements are to be made to The Galleries Shopping Centre, owned by InfraRed Capital Partners since 2011 and asset managed by Hark Group.

Refurbishment has recently started on the Merchant Street entrance, which will transform the look and feel of this key access point, integrating The Galleries seamlessly into Philadelphia Street and the Bristol Shopping Quarter.

The works mark another stage in a series of strategic improvements to the shopping centre, with local construction company Lancer Scott carrying out the refurbishment, which is set to take 16 weeks and has been arranged so as to cause minimum disruption to shoppers and retailers alike.

David Henderson-Williams of Hark Group, “It will certainly be lighter, brighter and more modern”,he explains, “as the updates will include cladding the red brick in a Bath stone coloured material plus adding glass panels and increasing the actual height of the entrances”.

“There will be new signage and internal doors and improved lighting as well as extending the existing coloured paving all the way up to the new doors.”

Adds Colin Lang, The Galleries centre manager: “We’re excited about these changes and confident they will further enhance the environment and make a considerable difference to the overall shopping and visitor experience.”

Since 2011, a series of multi-million pound initiatives have been successfully implemented to improve the Centre. These include relocating escalators to enhance sight lines and pedestrian flow, new washrooms and disabled facilities, rebranding and renaming the centre, and relocating the food court to create a new food service area on the middle floor.

The Galleries celebrated its 21st birthday last year (2012) and was the very first covered shopping mall in the city. It has recently attracted a number of new retailers including international furniture retailer Bo Concept which has moved into a 3,500 sqft unit on the corner of Merchant Street, and anchor store 99p Stores which occupies a 15,000 sqft space in the former top floor food court location.
