Wiltshire company puts its future in Birmingham’s hands, with new office

wantspacegotspace.co.uk - Office space in Birmingham - Wiltshire company puts its future in Birmingham’s hands, with new officeA Wiltshire-registered company has chosen Birmingham as the location of its new administrative headquarters, marking its return to the city. HCL Safety Ltd (HCL), which previously had an office at Sherbourne Mill, before its redevelopment, is an installer and inspector of fall-protection systems for people working at height and also provides a specialist building repair service. It is due to move into its new 3,099 sq ft offices at 11, The Wharf, on Bridge Street, this month.

The decision was taken to move the localised administrative function for its 10 regional offices to one central location. Birmingham was the natural choice for Andrew Le Cornu, managing director of HCL.

He comments: “Although we have operations across the country, and will continue to do so, advances in technology mean we can bring our administration resources together, into one location, to make it a more efficient and supportive function. Birmingham was deemed the ideal city to locate the offices thanks to its central position. Having the M6 and M5 on our doorstep makes it easily accessible, which is exactly what our business requires.

“It has been some time since we last had a presence in Birmingham, so Drivers Jonas Deloitte’s help was invaluable, as we were presented with a portfolio of quality office space, meeting all of our requirements, which allowed for a swift decision-making process.”

HCL has leased the whole building at 11, The Wharf, planning ahead for 2013, where the need for eight additional members of staff has been forecasted. This will be in addition to the five existing employees to be based in Birmingham, who assist in the processing of around 5,000 enquiries a year.

Cameron Thomson, Senior Surveyor at Drivers Jonas Deloitte, who was instructed to lease the property by landlord the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, said: “Birmingham’s central position continues to be one of the main attractions for companies which have a national client base. While the business benefits from a convenient location, helping with operations, Birmingham benefits with other factors, including employment opportunities, as is the case with HCL.”
