Bishops Stortford is a very well located market town with a population of 35,325 (2001 census). It is situated just off the M11 motorway and is the nearest town to London Stanstead Airport as well as being only 29 miles north east of London Charing Cross station. The area is undergoing major development at the moment and is set to benefit from the extension to Stanstead Airport. The area is very affluent, mainly in part due to its attraction to London commuters but it also benefits from a strong business sector. The tourism market is especially successful.
