Kettering is a large town of around 82,000 residents in the borough of Kettering, Northamptonshire.
Kettering grew as a town thanks to the growth in the boot and shoe industry in the area, this was hightened by the good railway links established to the town. Whilst many towns have seen a delcline in their economies as industry has disappeared Kettering has thrived as a distribution centre. The service sector has also appeared as a major employer in the area.
Many of these companies operate from the Kettering Business Park which saw the development of a great deal of office space within a mixed use scheme.
In addition to this Kettering is now a popular commuter destination thanks to very efficient train routes into London. It also has a large hospital and college which benefitted from a £20 million redevelopment in recent years.
